Salt Water
Fly Fishing

Saltwater fly fishing in New Zealand is often overlooked, overshadowed by the country’s world-class trout fisheries. Yet these coastal waters offer something truly special — yellowtail kingfish tailing in knee-deep water, smashing baitfish on the flats, alongside prized species such as kahawai, silver trevally, snapper, and parore, all on fly. Most saltwater trips are based in Tauranga Harbour, a premier location for sight-fishing in clear, shallow water.

OUR VESSEL

Our vessel is a 4.47 m Quintrex Explorer Trophy, purpose-built for versatility and performance on the water. Equipped with a Garmin Force electric motor and Garmin fish finder, it’s perfectly set up for fly fishing lakes, rivers or salt flats. The raised casting deck provides an ideal platform for sight-fishing to cruising fish, while the adjustable seating system can be positioned in five different locations, making it easy to adapt whether you’re drifting or anchored.
